Powerbook G3 user maximizes his Wallstreet RAM up to 384 Mb24 May 1999 I routinely have to deal with large data arrays (150 megs or more). On my PB G3 series (292 mHz) machine, that has forced me to use "real" VM - and along with it, the loss of speed when memory paging. As soon as I saw the ad ( on O'Grady's powerpage) for the memory modules at transintl, com, I just had to try it. However, there was the question if they would work on my PB G3/292. There is the "famous" Apple tech note that states the max supported ram is 192 (published before we could get the higher density ram modules) and some inconclusive discussions on the Apple tech exchange page. I emailed sales, and got a phone call as well as email in response (within a couple of hours). After being reassured it would work, I placed the order.I was also happy to see that transintl changed their web site (after our email exchange) so that the memory page for the PB G3 Wallstreet systems (rev 1 and 2) now show the large memory capacity as an option. I installed the ram today, and it is all working well. I now have the speed I want, and no ill effects (system temperature is the same as always, memory tests gave a clean bill of health, all the applications are happy). Very nice indeed.
